PRODUCTION PROCESS
SETTING UP APPROPRIATE EQUIPMENT
In our surveillance film, we used a DSLR camera along with a tripod, shoulder mount and lighting kit.
Most of our shots were shot free-hand, however some shots were created through the use of tripods and shoulder mounts to make it much smoother. We also made sure to make the main character the focus of the shots using the free-hand method by customising the camera settings to apply a certain focus and depth to the character. We also made sure that the output file was a raw file to make colour grading post-production easier.
When we used the shoulder mount we made sure the person that its attached to has the stamina to keep it steady while filming for a mid-long period of time. Additionally, we made sure the mount is safely secured before equipping it.

FOLLOWING STORYBOARD
We created multiple variations of our overall story through the use of storyboards; eventually we decided on using this timeline as it was the simplest and most effective short-story to portray a surveillance thriller.
FOLLOWING SAFE WORK PRACTICES
Before we started shooting our film, we had to carry out risk assessments of all the locations to make sure they were suitable for the film crew and the actors to safely perform their designated task. Along with that, we had to carry out a recce of each location to make sure they were legally viable along with viable in terms of the locations not being over-populated as they were mostly in public places.
FOLLOWING PRODUCTION PROCESS
In our surveillance film production, all of the film crew had a role in making sure the raw footage was handled correctly to ensure data wasn't lost. Along with that, we were responsible for the safe use of equipment on set.
After we finished filming on a day, we would take all of the footage off the camera's SD card and imported them onto a computer from which we upload it to a cloud service so anyone in the group had access to the footage when ever they needed it. [mainly Google Drive]

Afterwards, we all individually edited our film in our own unique way using the same footage.
